Job summary

tem is building a scalable, AI-native payments platform as part of its Saldo billing ecosystem. We seek a Senior Staff Engineer to own the Payments squad's delivery, define architecture, and drive technical direction while coaching juniors in a high-growth environment.

You will write design docs, review code, and tackle the hardest problems to reduce cost-to-process and enable rapid growth across international markets. Remote-first with flexible hours and strong emphasis on performance.

Qualifications

• Track record as a tech lead owning the squad delivery and the standards it works to.
• Experience writing design docs, reviewing PRs and ADRs, and solving problems hands-on.
• Balance hands-on work with coaching junior engineers.
• Experience designing a team’s ways of working from scratch, balancing speed, quality and resilience.
• Experience owning cross-team sequencing and dependencies, diagnosing throughput problems.

Responsibilities

• Own the squad's delivery and the standards it works to, ensuring shipped work we’re proud of.
• Lead from the front line: write specs and design docs, review PRs/ADRs, and solve problems directly through code or workflows.
• Set the payments architecture direction and turn ambiguity into a clear strategy.
• Cut the cost to process by improving payment accuracy and processing efficiency.
• Design how the squad works and set the pace, not waiting for a playbook.
• Own the big picture: manage sequencing and dependencies and keep work visible to stakeholders.
• Build a high-performance team by coaching juniors and defining what good looks like.
• Partner on people decisions: flag promotions and hiring gaps with manager.
