Job summary

Reap is seeking a Staff Engineer/Tech Lead to advance agentic payments, enabling AI-driven, autonomous payment flows across our platform. You will join product and engineering teams to integrate agentic capabilities with existing card and payments infra, shaping the direction with practical, production-ready solutions.

This role requires deep backend experience, a strong product sense, and the ability to ship quickly in a fully remote, async team.

Qualifications

• 5-8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong API design skills: versioned, consumer-facing contracts.
• Ability to drop into unfamiliar codebases and ship quickly using AI tools.
• Genuine engagement with the agentic-commerce space.
• Strong product sense: take a capability from idea to production.
• Low ego and high adaptability; collaborate with teams.
• Clear communication; work autonomously in a remote, async team.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship agentic capabilities, from card enrollment and spend controls to checkout execution.
• Work across structured agentic-commerce protocols and custom checkout automation.
• Own agentic features end-to-end across team boundaries: build it where it needs to live, and operate it in production.
• Help shape the agentic payments roadmap, including deciding what needs to be built in the first place, then turn those decisions into shipped infrastructure.
• Collaborate directly with product, founders, and the teams whose systems you’re embedding in.
