Wrike’s Backend Reliability (BRE) team is the backbone of our backend infrastructure and the guardian of our uptime. Our mission is to achieve and sustain 99.99% availability while building the tools, components, and safety nets that the entire engineering organization relies on.

As a Senior / Staff Backend Engineer on this team, you won’t just close tickets - you’ll architect core reliability solutions that shape how Wrike scales, performs, and recovers from failure.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Java/JVM backend systems.
• Distributed systems expertise incl. high availability, CAP theorem, and fault tolerance.
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL) and Redis experience.
• Containerization and cloud-native environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Ability to work independently with critical thinking.
• Strong English for collaboration in an international environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain reliability components such as rate limiters, migration tools, circuit breakers, and Redis caching.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize PostgreSQL usage under high load.
• Lead investigations during severe production incidents and propose mitigations.
• Create scalable tools and frameworks to help other teams build resilient services.
• Leverage AI-based tooling to accelerate development and automation.
• Share knowledge and set high reliability standards across engineering.
