Job summary

Nykredit’s Warsaw office hosts a Senior Software Engineer to strengthen the Core Customer team within Banking Technology. You will develop Jakarta EE and Spring Boot services, build REST/SOAP APIs, and push event-driven architecture in an on-prem setup with AKS cloud.

We are searching for a Senior Software engineer

For this role, we are looking for someone to join Nykredit – one of the banks BEC Poland works closely with.

Nykredit is both a bank and a mortgage provider owned by an association of customers. Being customer-owned, they are in a unique position to give something back to their customers when they are doing well.

Together they can simply do more for their customers and for society.

This position is based at our friendly office in Warsaw and you will join our Core Customer team part of Banking Technology. The team oversees core customer data and services.

The role offers personal development, working in a Scrum team with colleagues in both Warsaw and Copenhagen, learning from senior team members with comprehensive domain knowledge, high focus on quality assurance and automation, utilizing AI tooling in all phases of the software development lifecycle and working with Java in an on-prem setup, but also in an Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cloud environment. At Nykredit, we prefer to go to the office and collaborate physically, but we also could work remotely up to 8 days per month.

Your direct manager will be Development Lead Thomas Rossen located in Copenhagen.

Primary task and responsibilities include:

• Development of Jakarta EE and Spring Boot services
• API development - REST and SOAP services
• Development of event-driven architecture
• Unit, component and integration testing
• Participation in maintenance work as rotating team responsibility
• Collaboration with the team business analysts, product owner, application architect and coordinating with other teams for incident and problem handling
• Travel activities to Copenhagen 1-2 times per year

To succeed you will have:

• 5+ years of technical experience with Java EE, Jakarta EE, Spring or Spring Boot
• Knowledge of SQL, Hibernate, JPA or similar.
• Experience with microservice architecture
• Strong analytical skills and the interest of understanding the business domain.
• Experience or be willing to learn the new possibilities with AI and agentic development.
• A need to be a great team player by helping your colleagues succeed, share knowledge, take responsibility for team’s goals and take active part in the team’s events.

It’s nice-to-have experience with:

• Cloud architecture & Kubernetes
• JDK 17+
