Job summary

Baker Hughes in Warsaw is seeking a Senior Systems and Instrumentation Design Engineer to lead system definition (P&ID) and integration for Upgrades across legacy gas and steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, and climate technology solutions.

You will design auxiliaries, perform site surveys, and develop predictive designs using Matlab/Simulink, FlowMaster, and Hysys to improve efficiency and life extension of existing machines.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in Oil & Gas or broader energy engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of fluid systems and experience with computational analysis tools (e.g., Hysys, FlowMaster, Matlab/Simulink)
• Demonstrate problem-solving, analytical thinking, and process improvement skills
• Fluency in English and ability to work across functions and interfaces
• Familiarity with Six Sigma, Green Belt or Root Cause Analysis is a plus

Responsibilities

• Be in charge of the system design of auxiliaries for all Upgrades solutions (lube oil, hydraulic oil, control oil, water cooling, fuel gas, liquid fuel, seal gas, ventilation, gas detection, fire protection systems)
• Attend site surveys to define new supply and integrate it in existing plant; reverse engineering mindset
• Develop predictive system design through modeling and numerical automation (Matlab/Simulink, FlowMaster, Hysys) to foresee transient behaviors and define high-level control logic
• Execute the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects following engineering practices and requirements
• Interact with internal interfaces (ITO Team, Project Engineering, Project Manager, other disciplines’ Design Engineers, Testing, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Service)
• Collaborate with customers and suppliers, report project KPIs and drive proactive quality initiatives
• Provide technical leadership and coordinate external engineering activities; manage engineering hours budget
• Demonstrate inclusiveness, social conscience, and adaptability to the environment
