Job summary

Akamai in Poland is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Virtualization & Host Platforms (VHP) - Server Enablement & Qualification (SEQ) team. You will help design, implement and operate Linux-based infrastructure at scale, across hardware and host/guest platforms.

You will write automation, improve observability, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex production issues, including on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• Advanced Linux internals, system administration, and hardware understanding.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernel and OS with virtualization tech (KVM/QEMU).
• Experience designing, developing and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.
• Ability to diagnose hardware-test failures across firmware, BIOS/UEFI, drivers and test env.
• Proficient in Python and shell scripting to implement solutions.
• Background in a Development or SRE role with large-scale distributed systems.
• Familiar with SaltStack, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet for infra management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools the VHP team is responsible for.
• Designing and implementing enhancements to VHP observability infrastructure to identify and fix problems.
• Developing subject matter expertise in VHP components.
• Comfortable with new tooling, code, environments and automation.
• Collaborating with support, operations and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues.
