Job summary

Thomson Reuters in Gdansk seeks a Senior Counsel to advise on and negotiate complex SaaS, software, data and technology agreements supporting global sales. You will be a hands-on commercial lawyer with deep experience on the supplier side of technology transactions, providing practical, problem-solving guidance to Sales, Product Management and other business teams.

You will work in the Customers & Commercial team within the General Counsel Office, handling a broad range of legal and compliance

Qualifications

• 7+ years post-qualification experience in private practice and/or as in-house counsel advising on sell-side technology transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• German, French or Spanish language skills or experience in those jurisdictions is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of contract and commercial law, especially SaaS products and solutions.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
• Ability to think strategically and creatively to resolve legal issues.
• Authorization to practice law.
• Commercial focus with interest in privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of customer-facing and partner agreements, including SaaS and information licensing, data protection and security, hosting, content acquisition, consulting, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Identify legal, regulatory and compliance requirements and risks in various initiatives and develop mitigation strategies within the Customers & Commercial team and with the General Counsel Office.
• Research and respond to general legal inquiries from internal customers related to corporate, commercial, IP and compliance matters, including privacy-related issues, and advise on appropriate action.
