Job summary

Reuters is seeking a Senior Counsel for a fixed-term contract to advise on and negotiate complex SaaS, software, data, and technology agreements supporting Thomson Reuters products globally. The role focuses on the sell side, with practical problem-solving in a collaborative, data-driven legal department.

Qualifications

• 7 years minimum post-qualification experience in private practice and/or as in-house counsel advising on sell-side technology transactions.
• Excellent written/verbal English language communication skills.
• German, French or Spanish language skills or legal experience in these jurisdictions are an advantage.
• Excellent technical legal knowledge in contract and commercial law, particularly with SaaS products and solutions.
• Excellent negotiation and drafting skills.
• Authorization to practice law.
• Commercial focus with interest in privacy, data protection and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of customer facing and partner agreements, primarily complex software (including SaaS) and information licensing agreements, data protection and security, hosting, content acquisition, consulting and professional services agreements, NDAs and other commercial agreements related to sales of Thomson Reuters products and services.
• Identify legal, regulatory and compliance requirements and risks with various initiatives and develop mitigation strategies.
• Research and respond to legal inquiries related to corporate, commercial, IP and privacy matters and advise on appropriate legal action.
