Job summary

Hitachi, Ltd. is seeking an experienced R&D Software Developer focused on C++ for performance-critical real-time systems. You will design and implement high-performance software in a global team, with emphasis on reliability, long lifecycle support, and security.

Strong collaboration with product and engineering teams will drive architectural decisions and deployment across Linux/Windows environments. The role prioritizes modern C++ practices, real-time design, and secure software supply chain

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in modern C++ (C++17/20) with deep memory management knowledge.
• Strong experience in multithreading, synchronization, and real-time design.
• Experience with cross-platform development (Windows/Linux) and build tooling.
• Familiarity with C# development is a plus and beneficial.
• Proven ability to optimize performance and reduce latency in critical paths.
• Knowledge of secure, scalable system design and software architecture.
• Experience with industrial automation or power grid related domains is a plus.
• Excellent English communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop system design for multithreading, I/O, and latency in real-time operations.
• Build high-performance C++ cores and managed runtime services with low latency.
• Profile and optimize threading, reduce lock contention and allocations.
• Apply modern C++ practices and standards to code quality.
• Contribute to architecture reviews, design docs, and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into designs.
• Support technology decisions on dependencies, tooling, and secure supply chains.
• Maintain cross-platform build systems and Linux/Windows compatibility.
• Engage in Linux deployment strategies and practical development workflows.
• Deliver high-quality software while pursuing feature enhancements.
• Continuously enhance existing systems and contribute new features.
• Work effectively in an agile environment and broaden technical expertise.
• Participate in a cross-disciplinary team and shared objectives.
