Job summary

A Senior Network Engineer at Akamai will design, implement, and automate a global network infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. You will lead architecture from concept to implementation, building templates and automating configurations with Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, address complex routing and data-center challenges, and document procedures to enable smooth operations across a multi-vendor environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in IP network design and scalable BGP routing architectures.
• Understanding of Data Center architecture, including CLOS Fabric and overlays (VXLAN/EVPN).
• Experience managing multi-vendor environments (Juniper, Cisco) and routing platforms (BIRD/FRR/Cumulus).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Akamai's global network infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain core network configuration templates using Python, Ansible, and Jinja2.
• Implement new hardware and features within the automation framework.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data models and requirements.
• Lead deep-dive troubleshooting, documentation, and incident response.
