Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Network Operations Engineer to join a 24x7 night-shift team supporting large-scale network infrastructure. The role focuses on reliability, performance, and availability, working 18:00–2:00 and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth CDN and cloud compute operations.

You will monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues, develop runbooks, alerts, and dashboards, and drive operational excellence through documentation and automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience operating and supporting large-scale network environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer service skills.
• Strong expertise in IP networking, routing, and switching; CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent certifications desirable.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting service provider networks and Internet routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS).
• Experience writing, modifying, and troubleshooting SQL queries.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security across all systems and components.
• Troubleshooting complex network issues and coordinating resolution efforts to minimize downtime and service disruptions.
• Leading and supporting the resolution of critical technical incidents effectively and efficiently to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Providing expertise during incident response and conducting operational reviews to ensure thorough analysis and effective resolution.
• Designing, developing, and maintaining alerts, runbooks, dashboards, and monitoring solutions to enhance fault detection and operational visibility effectively.
• Developing and maintaining operational tools, automation, and technical documentation to support extensive network infrastructure effectively and efficiently.
