Job summary

EPAM Systems in Poland is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to serve as a Technology Lead for a product team delivering investor-facing solutions for a global asset manager. You will drive full-stack backend development with microservices and APIs, guiding legacy modernization and cloud-native architecture adoption, while working from the Krakow or Gdansk office three days a week.

The role requires 8+ years of experience, strong Java and Spring Boot, AWS proficiency, and excellent English

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar; Master’s preferred.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 8+ years designing microservices, REST APIs, and front-end applications.
• Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot for backend microservices development.
• Experience with AWS cloud-native services (EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Firehose, DynamoDB, EKS, CloudWatch).
• Proficiency in cloud-native microservices architecture with strong AWS expertise.
• Excellent English communication and client-facing presentation skills.
• Agile methodology experience and hands-on technology leadership.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership and accountability for the technology solution and output delivered by the team.
• Provide technology thought leadership and assist the team in making sound technical decisions.
• Remove technology-related obstacles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with architects, CTO organization, and cross-functional teams to ensure governance and best practices.
• Understand requirements and build solutions accordingly with focus on quality attributes.
• Contribute to and improve architecture, design, data models, APIs, frameworks, and code quality.
• Assist in effort estimation, planning, prioritization, and dependency identification; manage artifacts.
• Analyze legacy applications and define target-state design/architecture.
