Job summary

EPAM Systems in Kraków is seeking a Lead Data Software Engineer (Java) to own end-to-end architectural design for a strategic data platform within the Investment Banking domain. You will guide Java engineers, translate requirements into scalable solutions, and align with a multi-year cloud modernization roadmap.

In this role, you drive technical decisions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and promote best practices in API design, data streaming, and DevOps.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and implementing complex Java backend systems
• Experience in delivering architecture artifacts (HLD/LLD) and defining APIs
• Experience with data streaming and real-time/batch processing
• Familiarity with Databricks and cloud platforms
• Knowledge of SOLID and domain-driven design
• Strong communication and collaboration with stakeholders
• English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Responsibilities

• Design and own end-to-end solution and application architecture for the strategic platform enabling trade executions to flow from trade capture systems to Operations and Regulatory applications
• Translate business requirements into high-level and low-level designs, including integration patterns and deployment topology decisions
• Provide technical leadership to Java developers, review designs and code, and ensure adherence to best practices
• Develop key platform components in Java while balancing hands-on work with architectural duties
• Collaborate with the agile team in sprints to deliver secure, performant, and observable solutions
• Partner with product and stakeholders to align delivered functionality with strategic goals
• Contribute to the technical roadmap for simplification, reuse, and standardization across Digital Operations
