Job summary

Valora Outcomes is seeking a Senior Java Platform Engineer to design backend components of a large, distributed enterprise platform. You will focus on reliability, security, observability, and API quality while shaping end-to-end components rather than isolated tickets.

The role requires leading architectural decisions, building Kafka-based event-driven solutions and ensuring high availability. Remote-first with hybrid options in Warsaw, Poland, and a strong emphasis on production ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience.
• Strong Java and Spring Boot skills.
• Experience designing REST APIs and service-oriented systems.
• Good SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and CI/CD.
• Experience with messaging systems or event streaming.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services in Java.
• Build APIs with clear contracts and documentation.
• Participate in architectural decisions around scalability and security.
• Design event-driven and asynchronous processing solutions.
• Improve system reliability through retries, circuit breakers, monitoring and alerting.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Security and other teams.
• Lead code reviews and mentor engineers.
• Support production quality through incident analysis and improvements.
