Job summary

Salve.Lab is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to provide technical leadership while designing, building and shipping production code. You will work across multiple back-end services in a cloud-native, distributed system environment, mainly using Java with Python involvement.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, DevOps engineers and other teams to translate requirements into scalable backend architectures, and you will mentor engineers while shaping technical decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional backend experience.
• Hands-on Java development with production-grade code.
• Experience designing/developing microservices or distributed systems.
• Production Python code experience.
• Strong AWS and cloud-native architecture knowledge.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Experience designing/integrating REST APIs.
• Good SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Practical CI/CD experience and modern delivery practices.
• Ability to influence architecture and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, primarily in Java.
• Write production-quality code as a core daily activity.
• Contribute to Python services and codebases when needed.
• Work across three to four interconnected microservices.
• Shape technical and architectural decisions across services.
• Break down complex requirements for implementation.
• Review code and establish engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with Product Owners on requirements and delivery.
• Build and operate cloud-native services on AWS.
