Job summary

Docplanner is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to own Payments. You will lead 7–9 engineers, stay hands-on in code, and drive AI-native practices to raise the bar for performance and delivery.

You’ll collaborate with Product and Design to invest in foundations, run fast experiments, and pivot based on user feedback while guiding growth and fostering a high-performing team. This role offers a flexible hybrid/remote setup with a Warsaw hub.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams in product companies, including hiring, growth and performance management.
• Track record of growing people and handling difficult performance situations.
• Hands-on experience using AI to speed up how code is written, reviewed and refactored, with good judgment on when not to rely on it.
• Founder mindset: move quickly from idea to experiment, validate with real users, and change direction without ego when evidence says so.
• Thrive in ambiguity and enjoy being the first to try something new, figuring out what works and helping your team navigate the same path.
• Fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Own performance management for your team: set clear expectations, give direct and regular feedback, run reviews and calibrations, and deal with underperformance early.
• Level up your engineers: build individual growth plans, coach through pairing and code review, create stretch opportunities, and grow the next senior engineers and tech leads.
• Work hand in hand with the Product Manager and Design to decide where to invest: which foundations to build, which bets deserve a fast experiment, and when to pivot based on what users actually need.
• Stay hands-on: work directly in the team’s codebase, implementing features and architectural changes, not just reviewing them.
• Keep the team’s AI-native practices sharp as tools evolve, and keep quality high and operational burden low as delivery speeds up.
• Track and communicate impact with concrete metrics: delivery speed, quality, team engagement and product outcomes.
