About The Role
In this role, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of next-generation IoT solutions developed for a global leader in high-tech materials, engineering systems, and environmental technologies. Working within a cross-functional engineering team, you will drive automated testing strategies for embedded and hardware-based products, improving product stability, release confidence, and operational excellence across cloud-connected devices.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve automated test frameworks for embedded IoT products, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and efficient execution across development and release cycles
- Drive end-to-end validation of MCU-based systems, covering firmware functionality, communication protocols, hardware interaction, timing-sensitive behavior, and device reliability
- Collaborate closely with firmware, hardware, DevOps, and cloud engineering teams to improve product quality and accelerate delivery pipelines
- Develop automated tests in Python using pytest and reusable test libraries, applying best practices for maintainability, diagnostics, and code quality
- Implement and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments and investigate complex hardware/software interaction issues
- Validate communication protocols, APIs, and connectivity flows, including CoAP, Wi-Fi, GNSS, device state transitions, error handling, and protocol robustness
- Integrate automated test suites into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, managing test reporting, regression execution, quality gates, and release validation
- Analyze failures across firmware, infrastructure, networking, containers, and hardware platforms, providing root-cause analysis and actionable recommendations
- Improve test reliability by reducing flaky tests, optimizing execution times, strengthening observability, and enhancing overall engineering productivity
- Mentor team members on testing practices, framework architecture, and quality engineering standards
Requirements
- Strong experience in embedded software testing and automated validation of hardware-based systems, including sensors, communication interfaces, and hardware/software interactions
- Advanced Python expertise with pytest, fixtures, parametrization, custom markers, reusable test libraries, and automated test framework development
- Deep understanding of MCU-based systems, including memory management, timing behavior, peripheral interfaces, power management, and hardware debugging
- Hands-on experience with Zephyr RTOS, including Kconfig, Device Tree configurations, board setup, build variants, and configuration-dependent testing
- Proven expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and investigation of intermittent hardware and firmware issues
- Practical knowledge of communication protocols and connectivity technologies, including CoAP, Wi-Fi, GNSS, and embedded device communications
- Experience with containerized testing environments using Docker and Docker Compose, as well as CI/CD implementation in Azure DevOps
- Strong understanding of firmware validation processes, including secure boot, OTA updates, rollback mechanisms, recovery scenarios, Flash, EEPROM, and PSRAM testing
- Experience with test traceability, test data management, quality metrics, reporting, and defect lifecycle management
- Solid debugging and analytical skills across firmware, test automation, infrastructure, networking, and cloud-connected environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to document findings, create reproducible test procedures, and collaborate effectively with distributed teams
- Upper-Intermediate or higher English proficiency for daily communication with international stakeholders
- Beneficial to have experience with CPLD and firmware interaction testing
- Knowledge of soak testing and long-duration validation strategies
- Background in advanced test analytics and test result visualization
- Experience working with IoT platforms and cloud-connected devices
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring, industrial automation, or connected product ecosystems
