Job summary

FlexLink, a Coesia company, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer in Poznań, Poland to manage automation projects from programming to optimization. About the Role

As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will work on automation projects from concept and programming to commissioning and optimization.

This is a hands‑on role where you will work with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial systems, collaborate with our mechanical and electrical teams, and solve technical challenges during system commissioning - both internally and at customer sites. The projects are mostly custom‑built, so the role involves real problem‑solving and adapting solutions to specific customer needs.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

• Develop control system concepts and design
• Prepare functional design specifications (FDS) as well as control and safety concepts
• Program PLC and HMI systems (offline)
• Commission and optimize automated systems, including robot cells and conveyor/transport systems
• Troubleshoot and resolve interdisciplinary technical issues in cooperation with mechanical and electrical teams
• Participate in FAT, SAT, and customer acceptance
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for delivered solutions
• Support quotation activities through controls effort estimation and technical risk assessment
• Be responsible for the controls scope, ensuring delivery within project budget and schedule
• Contribute to lessons learned activities and implementation of engineering improvements and standardization
• Develop and maintain PLC programming standards and best practices
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers

What You Need to Be Successful

• Engineering degree (Automation and Robotics, Mechatronics or similar)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in automation (robotics experience is a plus)
• Strong PLC and HMI programming skills (e.g. Siemens, Allen‑Bradley)
• Experience in commissioning automated production systems, robot cells, or material handling systems
• Experience with servo systems, VFDs, and motion control
• Good understanding of industrial communication protocols
• Knowledge of OPC UA
• Knowledge of machine safety standards (e.g. ISO 13849, IEC 62061)
• Ability to read electrical schematics and understand control systems
• Very good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Strong sense of responsibility for quality and project delivery
• Fluent Polish (spoken and written)
• Good English (spoken and written)
• Willingness to travel (around 30%)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of PackML
• Experience with industrial robots (programming and commissioning)
• Experience with Omron PLCs
