Job summary

Qualifications

• 7 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, or 5 years and a technical Master's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in C++, with ability to learn Python, Java, or Go quickly.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, operating systems and software design.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with relevant tools.
• Experience in distributed systems like databases, file systems and storage.
• Experience with CI/CD systems, test automation frameworks, and integrating AI coding assistants and agentic workflows.
• Experience in REST, gRPC, or similar paradigms.
• Experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch features powering Splunk's core search functionalities.
• Build robust, fault-tolerant and scalable distributed systems in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.
• Define and perform search language layer optimizations/transformations.
• Analyze and improve reliability, and scalability of search execution pipelines.
• Diagnose and solve customer incidents and issues, identify gaps, and deliver preventative enhancements.
• Hire, mentor junior engineers and grow talents on the team.
