Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. invites experienced Software Engineer to join the Splunk Search Experience backend team, a core part of the Splunk Platform powering Cisco Data Fabric.

You will contribute to next-generation, highly scalable search capabilities that enable AI-driven workflows across our products. You will design, develop, and launch features for core search functionalities, build fault-tolerant distributed systems, optimize search languages, and work with product and cross-functional teams to

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor's or Master's in CS or equivalent.
• Proficient in C++, able to learn Python/Java/Go quickly.
• Strong fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, OS, software design.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills with relevant tools.
• Experience with distributed systems (databases, file/storage).
• Experience building CI/CD systems and test automation, with AI coding assistants and agentic workflows.
• Experience with REST, gRPC, or similar paradigms.
• Experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and launch features powering core search functionalities across our product ecosystem.
• Build robust, fault-tolerant and scalable distributed systems in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.
• Define and perform search language layer optimizations and transformations.
• Analyze and improve reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
• Diagnose and resolve customer incidents, identify gaps, and deliver enhancements for prevention.
• Hire and mentor junior engineers to grow talent on the team.
