Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related professional experience, master’s degree with 4+ years of related professional experience, or PhD with 1+ year of related professional experience.
• Experience developing production backend software in Java or Scala.
• Experience designing distributed systems for large-scale data processing.
• Experience delivering software features across technical design, implementation, testing, release, and production support.
• Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies.
• Experience applying algorithms and data structures to diagnose and improve query execution performance.
• Experience coordinating technical delivery across teams, communicating tradeoffs, and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of features from technical design through implementation, release, and ongoing operation to extend Splunk’s federated query and data lake capabilities.
• Design and build secure, high-performance distributed systems and contribute to feature threat modeling.
• Analyze and optimize query performance, troubleshoot production issues, and lead root cause analysis to improve reliability.
• Coordinate with engineering and product partners to refine requirements and manage delivery milestones and risks.
• Mentor engineers and improve development practices through documentation and knowledge sharing.
