Job summary

People More is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer – FinTech / Payments to design and maintain distributed backend services for payment authorisation, ledgers, and settlements. You will build scalable APIs, focus on performance and resilience, and work across the full SDLC with product teams.

The role requires 5+ years of backend experience with Java, C#.NET, Rust, or Node.js, plus strong knowledge of distributed systems and testing. Hybrid work and international projects are offered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience.
• Hands-on with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems: consistency, Saga, idempotency, Outbox.
• Experience building production-grade backend services and APIs.
• Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, production monitoring and observability.
• Relational DB knowledge, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing: unit/integration/contract tests.
• Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools in daily work.
• Ability to write clean, well-tested code.
• Very good English and Polish.

For the project that we are working on with our partner, we are looking for Senior Backend Engineer – FinTech / Payments

Your duties will include:

• Designing, developing, and maintaining distributed backend services supporting payment authorisation, financial ledgers, settlements, and other payment-related processes.
• Building scalable, secure, and reliable APIs with a focus on performance, maintainability, and system resilience.
• Developing event-driven architectures and implementing integrations between distributed services.
• Taking responsibility for backend solutions throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design to implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Designing and maintaining domain events and ensuring reliable data exchange between systems.
• Working closely with engineering and product teams to define technical requirements, evaluate solutions, and support architectural decisions.
• Monitoring production environments, investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis, and implementing improvements.
• Reviewing code, mentoring other developers, and contributing to engineering standards and best practices.

Requirements that must be met:

• At least 5 years of commercial experience in backend development using one or more of the following technologies: Java, C#/.NET, Rust, or Node.js.
• Practical experience in designing, developing, and maintaining distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency models, Saga patterns, idempotency, and the Outbox pattern.
• Experience in developing and maintaining production-grade backend services and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, production monitoring, and observability solutions.
• Good knowledge of relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and contract testing.
• Practical use of AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar solutions, in daily engineering work.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Very good English and Polish
