Job summary

Fresha is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the next generation of banking and financial products. You will build scalable services powering Fresha’s financial offerings, working with Ruby, Elixir and TypeScript, across a microservices landscape backed by Kafka, GraphQL and PostgreSQL.

Join a cross-functional squad in Warsaw, with four days in the office and one remote day, collaborating with engineering, product and design to deliver high‑quality financial features.”

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and running backend services in production.
• Design for correctness: handle duplicates, timeouts, and concurrent updates safely.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale and understanding of failure modes.
• Event-driven architecture with asynchronous processing (Kafka or equivalent).
• Shipped/operated large scale services behind feature flags and monitored rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Own features end to end: design, build, test, ship and operate.
• Release frequently, behind feature flags with CI/CD driven rollout.
• Collaborate across services and teams from conception to release.
• Work with Product, Design, Frontend, Infra and Mobile teams.
• Maintain health of systems, diagnose bottlenecks and optimize performance.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and evolving engineering practices.
