Job summary

Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer to strengthen our iOS test automation for a global aviation app. You will work closely with product, developers, and release teams to stabilize tests, investigate flakiness, and ensure reliable mobile workflows across iPadOS environments.

You will contribute to the future direction of iOS automation, using Appium/WebDriver and XCTest/XCUITest, with Java or Swift in a hybrid, team-oriented setting.

Are you interested in mobile automation, complex iOS workflows, and making sure that software used in commercial aviation remains stable, scalable, and trusted? In this role, you will work close to the product, developers, and release process, helping us strengthen automated testing, stabilize existing test coverage, and contribute to the future direction of iOS test automation.
About the role
This role is not only about writing automated tests, but also about improving test reliability, understanding application behavior, and working closely with developers to make the product more testable.
You will help us maintain and stabilize the existing mobile automation setup, investigate flaky tests, support release testing, and troubleshoot issues across the application, test framework, CI/CD pipelines, and physical iOS devices.
We are also evolving our automation strategy, so you will contribute to technical discussions around the future direction of our iOS test automation, including Appium/WebDriver-based and XCTest/XCUITest-based approaches.
Typical tasks

• Maintain and stabilize the existing mobile automation setup.
• Investigate and reduce flaky tests.
• Support release testing and test reporting.
• Troubleshoot issues across the application, test framework, CI/CD pipelines, and physical iOS devices.
• Work closely with developers to understand application workflows and improve testability.
• Contribute to technical discussions around the future direction of iOS test automation.

In order to succeed in this role, you should be able to recognize yourself in most of the following:

• Strong experience in test automation engineering, preferably in mobile/iOS environments.
• Hands-on experience with at least one mobile automation stack, e.g. Appium/WebDriver or XCTest/XCUITest.
• Ability to read, debug, and improve an existing automation codebase in Java and/or Swift.
• Practical familiarity with Xcode, iOS application projects, XCTest results, and accessibility identifiers.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for automated tests, ideally Jenkins.
• Ability to investigate and stabilize flaky tests using logs, screenshots, reports, test data, selectors, and timing analysis.
• Ability to work closely with developers and understand application workflows at code level.
• Communicative English for daily collaboration with international teams.

It would be a plus if you also bring some of the following:

• Experience with both Appium/WebDriver and XCTest/XCUITest in iOS automation.
• Java, Maven, TestNG, or keyword-driven/data-driven test framework experience.
• Swift experience, especially in the context of XCTest/XCUITest or iOS testability.
• Experience running automated tests on physical iOS devices or device labs.
• Familiarity with WebDriverAgent, iOS provisioning, bundle IDs, UDIDs, Appium/WDA port configuration, and device connectivity issues.
• Experience with Jira, AIO Test, release testing, and test reporting.
• API testing, JMeter, performance testing, or basic security testing experience.
• Experience with aviation, safety-critical, regulated, or enterprise mobile applications.
• Familiarity with TestFlight, Enterprise IPA/SysFun builds, signing, and provisioning.
