Moderna is seeking a Security Engineer (Security Architect) to shape code security strategy across cloud, on‑prem, and AI use cases, partnering with engineering teams to embed secure‑by‑design practices in source control, artifacts, and CI/CD workflows.

The role leads threat modeling, risk assessments, and architectural guidance across hybrid environments, balancing security rigor with rapid software delivery and cross‑functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in cybersecurity with deep application and code security architecture.
• Experience reviewing custom-built applications for security risk including secure design and architectural flaws.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, threat modeling, dependencies, secrets management, and common vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead code security enterprise strategy and maintain the primary code security platform.
• Oversee code security architecture for custom applications, including secure design and architecture reviews across the SDLC.
• Perform risk assessments across on-prem and cloud environments, evaluating vulnerabilities and proposing mitigations.
• Conduct threat modeling for applications, APIs, platforms, and supporting infrastructure.
• Drive secure software development practices, including dependency risk, secrets handling, and secure-by-design patterns.
• Assess security risks across cloud, network, and AI architectures and ensure code concerns are in broader context.
• Identify and remediate misconfigurations across applications and cloud environments with security teams.
• Provide architectural guidance and leadership across multiple security domains.
