Job summary

Moderna is seeking a Security Engineer (Security Architect) to shape code security strategy across hybrid cloud, network, and AI use cases. You will assess how software is built, identify risks in custom code, and partner with engineering teams to design practical security controls in Source control, Artifacts, and CI/CD workflows.

The ideal candidate leads secure design discussions, runs threat modeling, and guides teams toward secure-by-design practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of cybersecurity with deep experience in application and code security architecture.
• Experience reviewing custom-built applications for security risk and secure design.
• Strong understanding of secure software development, threat modeling, and secrets management.
• Ability to translate security concerns into pragmatic guidance for engineers.
• Broad security knowledge across cloud, network, and AI domains.
• Experience assessing cloud architectures and misconfigurations in hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with AI security risks and architectural considerations.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead code security enterprise strategy and manage the primary code security platform.
• Lead code security architecture for custom applications, including design reviews and risk assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments across on-prem and cloud environments, including COTS and in-house services.
• Run threat modeling for applications, APIs, platforms, and infrastructure to identify abuse paths.
• Drive secure software development practices and dependency risk management.
• Advise on security risks across cloud, network, and AI architectures.
• Identify and remediate security misconfigurations with cross-team collaboration.
• Provide architectural guidance and leadership across multiple security domains.
