Job summary

n8n is seeking a staff-level architect to shape and evolve the core platform architecture powering 80+ engineers and a thriving open-source community. You will drive architecture across two Core Platform teams, enabling scalable execution, infrastructure, data foundations, and frontend platform integration across cloud and self-hosted deployments.

You will mentor engineers, define durable platform interfaces, and lead decisions through RFCs and design reviews to keep the product moving forward.

Qualifications

• Staff-level architectural ownership across multiple systems or teams.
• Experience with migrations or foundational platform initiatives.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts and trade-offs.
• Ability to design highly configurable, scalable backend foundations.
• Strong leadership and mentoring across engineering teams.
• Experience shaping platform interfaces and developer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture across Core Platform teams to evolve execution, infrastructure, data, and frontend platform systems.
• Design adaptable backend foundations for multiple workloads and deployment models.
• Partner with FE platform workstream on core canvas architecture and platform primitives.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, RFCs, and guidance.
• Define stable platform interfaces to ease migrations and product work.
