Engg is seeking a backend engineer to design and implement core services for high-performance distributed systems. You will own key technology decisions, build for scale, and pursue modern practices like BDD/TDD. Collaboration across teams, code reviews, and thorough internal documentation are expected to ensure quality.

Excellent communication, autonomy and payments domain awareness will help you thrive in this remote role, with opportunities across multiple regions.

Qualifications

Understanding of the entire development process (design, development, deployment).
Experience building developer frameworks and workflows for integration.
Knowledge of Python is advantageous.
Autonomous, self-motivated and delivery-focused.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Payments knowledge to optimise merchant developer experience.
Based in Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Romania or South Africa.

Responsibilities

Design and implement core backend services for high-performance distributed systems.
Own key tech decisions, build for scale and optimize output.
Advocate modern practices such as BDD and TDD.
Write clear, modern, well-tested code.
Collaborate across teams in a product-driven environment.
Conduct code reviews and improve ways of working.
Create detailed internal documentation for projects.
