Job summary

SeaRenergy Offshore Holding GmbH seeks an experienced freelance SCADA engineer to support a major offshore wind development project in Northern Europe. The role is primarily remote-based with regular travel within the EU and other project locations as required.

You will collaborate with a multinational team to design, configure, and implement SCADA systems, review architectures, and ensure compliance with client specifications and cybersecurity requirements. Fluent English is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable discipline.
• Experience with SCADA systems in offshore wind, substations or industrial infrastructure.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (IEC 61850, OPC, Modbus, IEC 60870 or similar).
• Experience with control systems integration and commissioning activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, engineering, configuration, and implementation of SCADA systems for offshore wind assets.
• Review SCADA architectures, network and communication concepts, system specifications, and interface documentation.
• Coordinate SCADA integration between wind turbines, offshore substations, export systems, and onshore control centres.
• Define and review signal lists, data-point mappings, alarms, events, and system interfaces.
• Support integration of PLC, RTU, HMI, historian, and condition-monitoring systems.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, grid-code, and client specifications.
• Review protocols and interfaces (IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus TCP, OPC UA).
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
