Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer to lead supplier qualification, audits, and improvement actions across the supply base for transformers components.

You will oversee parts approvals, monitor performance, and drive continuous quality and sustainability improvements on a global scale. The role requires 8+ years in quality assurance and supplier development, with knowledge of heat treatment, coatings, and ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier development in metal fabrication, welding, machining, transformer components or similar industries.
• Knowledge of heat treatment and surface protection processes (hot-dip galvanization, powder/wet paint, E-coating).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards; external auditor certification is a plus.
• Welding engineering/inspector certification (IWE/IWI), painting/coating inspector (FROSIO), NDT (ISO 9712) is a strong advantage.
• Understanding of ISO 3834, EN 1090, welding standards and QA acceptance levels (ISO 5817, ISO 23277).
• Experience with audits, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and inspection test plan creation.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification with SAP Ariba assessments and global on-site audits.
• Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings.
• Oversee global parts approvals to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive annual Supplier Performance Evaluation.
• Develop action plans for supplier performance recovery with suppliers.
• Lead root cause analyses and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Drive continuous improvement in supplier management and sustainability alignment.
• Support SCM sustainability initiatives and compliance across the business unit.
