Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer focused on critical to quality materials such as gaskets and insulation components for transformers. Based in Europe, you will ensure supplier materials meet high quality while controlling costs, implementing proactive QA processes, and enhancing supplier performance across the global supply base.

You will lead audits, drive action plans, and advance continuous improvement in supplier management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering with chemical, process, materials, mechanical or polymer science background.
• 10+ years of supplier development and supplier quality management experience.
• Deep knowledge of chemicals, gaskets and insulation materials production and quality in transformer contexts.
• Strong production process assessment experience.
• Proficiency with APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, SPC and related quality tools.
• Excellent communication for international collaboration.
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier audits.

You will implement proactive quality assurance processes to enhance the quality and delivery performance of our supply base.

How you'll make an impact

• Lead the supplier qualification process by conducting SAP Ariba assessments and executing global on-site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability.
• Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements, fostering enhanced collaboration and quality outcomes.
• Oversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements for various critical to quality materials in Transformers Business unit.
• Monitor supplier performance indicators and drive the annual Supplier Performance Evaluation process to identify and address low-performing suppliers.
• Develop and implement action plans for supplier performance recovery, working closely with suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of corrective measures.
• Resolve escalated non-conformities with suppliers by leading root cause analysis and ensuring proper implementation of corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level, reflecting lessons learned and promoting best practices across the business unit.
• Lead key SCM tool/system improvement projects within Supplier Quality and Development domain.
• Act as project lead for single/sole source elimination in critical global categories.

Your background

• Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Materials, Mechanical, Polymer science or similar).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier development and supplier quality management.
• In-depth knowledge of chemicals, gaskets and/or insulation material production processes, specifications, and quality standards in transformer industry (or similar).
• Solid experience with production process assessment.
• Deep knowledge of Quality and Continuous Improvement tools (Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis).
• Expertise in APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, SPC, and inspection processes.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction in an international environment.
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier audits and assessments frequently.
