Job summary

Focal Systems is seeking a Data/Reporting Team Lead to own the numbers behind retail operations. You will build and lead a small senior team, while remaining hands-on in data pipelines and reporting systems that drive decisions for large grocers.

You’ll ensure accuracy, reliability, and cost efficiency across the data stack. The role requires strong leadership, deep SQL/Python expertise, and experience with Snowflake/DBT, CDC pipelines, and BI tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/EE or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Lead a small, senior data/reporting team and stay hands-on in the pipeline
• Own the accuracy and reliability of customer-facing reporting
• Build and lead the data platform: Snowflake CDC pipelines, DBT transformations
• Engineer tooling for data integrity: reconciliation, drift detection, and state reconstruction
• Own compute and cost: optimize pipelines for performance and cost
• Set the technical bar for the team and mentor engineers
• Collaborate with backend, analytics, and customer-facing teams to ensure consistent reporting across surfaces
