Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Vans is seeking a highly motivated Body Shop Joining/Spot Welding Engineer to join our Jawor team as we expand our battery-electric LCV production. You will help develop a sustainable, integrated production line for light commercial vehicles.

Responsibilities include overseeing Joining & Spot Welding in Body-in-White, creating Process Control Plans, analyzing measurement results, and coordinating with Production, Maintenance, Quality & Engineering to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, Automation or related).
• 2-3 years' experience in automotive manufacturing with joining process focus.
• Extensive knowledge of Body Shop joining processes and SPC.
• Experience with measurement and data analysis tools; LEAN knowledge is essential.
• Experience with weld controllers and 2D/3D CAD is a plus.
• Fluent English; German is an advantage; willingness to travel.

• Analyze measurement results and drive root-cause analysis.
• Develop Process Control Plans and respond to loss of joining characteristics.

• Lead quality checks (Nondestructive & Destructive) to meet standards.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality & Engineering.

Mercedes-Benz Vans is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Body Shop Joining/Spot Welding Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a new, sustainable, and integrated light commercial vehicle production plant in Jawor. As we expand our battery-electric LCV production capacity, we are looking for experts ready to shape the future of automotive manufacturing.

• Responsible for the Joining & Spot Welding process in Body-in-White/Body Shop/Welding Shop.
• Accountable for joining quality.
• Analyzing measurement results, identifying the causes of mismatches (processor product problems), and proposing andimplementingcorrective actions.
• Creating and developing Process Control Plans and responding to the first signals of loss of joining characteristics.
• Setup/Configuration of joining equipment (for example Bosch BOS) including weld gun calibration
• Managing and developing the strategy for Quality Checks (Nondestructive & Destructive) operations to ensure that products, processes, and procedures meet corporate standards and compliance regulations.
• Cooperation with internal customers like Production, Maintenance, Quality & Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering: Mechanical, Welding, Manufacturing, Automation or related field.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment, with a focus on joining process management of automotive parts on Welding Shop (OEM, Tire 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 or Line builder – system integrator).
• Extensive knowledge of Body Shop (Welding Shop) joining processes.
• Experience with creating Process Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools, Ultrasonic Checking Systems, VT 1 & 2, UT 1& 2 are advantageous.
• Experience withdeviceslike MFDC Spot Weld controllers, servo weld guns, Flow Drill Screw is an advantage and 2D/3D CAD systems.
• Experience in data analysis and problem solving: the ability to analyze measurement results.
• Excellent knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and their application in a modern automotive production environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, intercultural environment.
• Demonstrated analytical skills, proficiency in problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
• Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing plant is preferred (OEM or Tire 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
