Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland sp. z o.o. in Jawor seeks a BIW Geometry/Dimensional Engineer to support Body Shop geometry area and drive geometry processes for a modern BIW production line.

The role involves using CMMs and laser systems, CAD/GD&T, and LEAN methods to assure dimensional quality. Collaboration with Production, Quality & Engineering teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing or related) required.
• 3–5 years in automotive manufacturing focusing on geometry/dimensional process management.
• Experience with BIW/Welding Shop dimensional control and measuring devices.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD and GD&T norms.
• Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities; LEAN knowledge.
• English fluency; German/Polish beneficial.”

Description

Mercedes-Benz Vans is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Body-in-White (BIW) Geometry/Dimension Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of a new, sustainable, and integrated Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) production plant in Jawor. As we expand our battery-electric Van production capacity, we are looking for experts ready to shape the future of automotive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the Geometry/Dimensional process in Body-in-White/Body Shop/Welding Shop.
• Accountable for parts geometry/dimensional quality.
• Analyzing measurement results, identifying the causes of geometric mismatches (processor product problems), and proposing andimplementingcorrective actions.
• Creating and developing measuring control plans and responding to the first signals of loss of geometric and qualitative characteristics.
• Setup/Configuration of measuring equipment including calibration
• Managing and developing the strategy for BIW geometry operations to ensure that products, processes, and procedures meet corporate standards and compliance regulations.
• Cooperation with internal customers like Production, Maintenance, Quality & Engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing environment, with a focus on geometry/dimensional process management of automotive parts on Welding Shop (OEM or Tire 1, Tier 2).
• Extensive knowledge of Body-in-White (or Welding Shop) processes dimensional control using advanced on-line and off-line measurement equipment.
• Experience with measuringdevicessuch as coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), measuring arms, orlaser-optical systems for precise measurement of base points and geometry deviations.
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD systems and GD&T norm
• Experience in data analysis and problem solving: the ability to analyze measurement results, identify the causes of geometric discrepancies
• Excellent knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles and their application in a modern automotive production environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, intercultural environment.
• Demonstrated analytical skills.
• Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing plant is preferred (OEM or Tire 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
• Languages: Fluent English; German and Polish are advantageous.
• Willingness to travel to other Mercedes-Benz locations for training and knowledge sharing.
• Proficiency in problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
