Job summary

Akamai Technologies in Kraków is seeking a Performance Engineer II to join the Mapping Strategy team. You will help optimize global traffic, capacity allocation, and production reliability across products and regions, partnering with engineering and SRE to improve latency and efficiency across the internet.

You will design strategies, automate tasks, and build scalable systems, with a focus on observability, dashboards, and proactive issue prevention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
• Experience with Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
• Strong Linux CLI/shell fluency and knowledge of Linux internals.
• Experience developing SQL queries for trend analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
• Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms (Grafana, Prometheus).

Responsibilities

• Improve Akamai's content delivery products through cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decisions, and focus on performance, availability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Respond to escalations for capacity impact evaluation.
• Design strategies for allocating Akamai's global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience.
• Engineer global traffic policies to continuously improve latency, availability, and resource utilization.
• Automate operational tasks and build frameworks that eliminate toil and reduce manual and repetitive work.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to build scalable, resilient systems and troubleshoot complex performance issues across services, networks, and regions.
• Implementing and optimizing monitoring, alerting, logging, and analytics to proactively detect, mitigate, and prevent issues.
