Job summary

Instant Impact is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to establish and lead a global payroll function across multiple jurisdictions. You will work with HR, Finance and key stakeholders to deliver a scalable operating model, ensuring accurate, compliant payroll processing and continuous improvement.

The role involves transforming payroll processes, managing outsourced providers, and building a high-performing payroll team as the function expands within a growing international business.

• Proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations within a multinational environment.
• Experience establishing, centralising or transforming payroll functions.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance, controls and governance across jurisdictions.
• Experience managing outsourced payroll providers and third-party vendors.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication with HR, Finance and business teams.

• Support payroll audits, reporting obligations and compliance activities.
• Partner with HR, Finance and business stakeholders on payroll-related matters.
• Act as the escalation point for payroll queries and complex issues.
• Build and develop the payroll team as the function grows.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to establish and lead a global payroll function. This is an opportunity to build and shape a scalable payroll operating model, supporting employees across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with HR, Finance and key stakeholders, you will oversee payroll operations, drive process improvements, manage external providers and ensure payroll is delivered accurately, compliantly and on time.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Proven experience managing multi-country payroll operations within a multinational environment.
• Experience establishing, centralising or transforming payroll functions.
• Strong understanding of payroll compliance, controls and governance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Experience managing outsourced payroll providers and third-party vendors.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance and business teams.
• Experience working with payroll systems and HRIS platforms, such as Workday, ADP, SD Worx, Dayforce, SAP SuccessFactors or Oracle HCM.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.
• Experience within a Shared Services Centre (SSC) or Global Business Services (GBS) environment would be advantageous.
• Experience supporting payroll migrations, operating model changes or transformation programmes would be beneficial.
