Job summary

WSI Europe is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead orbital TIG welding initiatives for piping systems across Europe, Middle East, and Asia. The role combines hands-on welding, supervision at industrial sites, and technical support during tenders.

You will prepare welding processes, program automated heads, plan work, train welders, and ensure compliance with ISO 14732/13480 and ASME B31.3. International travel up to 60% and night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• At least five years of practical piping welding experience.
• Minimum 2–3 years hands-on orbital TIG welding.
• Experience setting up, programming and operating automated orbital welding equipment.
• Experience in piping repairs and tie-ins to existing installations.
• Very good knowledge of manual and orbital TIG welding.
• Experience welding carbon steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to read piping isometric drawings, P&IDs, weld maps, weld numbering and quality documentation.
• Knowledge of WPS/WPQR requirements for welders and welding operators.
• Knowledge of ISO 14732, ISO 9606, ISO 15614 or ASME BPVC Section IX.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.3 or EN 13480 for industrial piping.
• English at least B2 level for technical communication.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 60% and work night shifts.
• Category B driving licence.
• Medical fitness for industrial sites, heights, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, commissioning and optimising orbital TIG welding processes for piping systems.
• Programming and troubleshooting automated orbital welding heads.
• Planning and supervising welding work from joint preparation to inspection and handover.
• Assessing when orbital welding is justified versus manual TIG welding.
• Analyzing causes of welding non-conformities and reducing repairs.
• Cooperating with Quality, Welding Engineering, Project Management and Sales teams.
• Supporting planning of NDT inspections and analysing results.
• Developing and managing a training programme for welders and orbital welding operators.
• Providing hands-on training and preparing employees for qualification tests.
• Supporting tender preparation with productivity and resource estimates.
• Participating in projects at industrial sites in Europe, Middle East and Asia
