Job description

We are looking for an experienced Operations / Sales Director (f/m) to lead the operational transformation of an omnichannel retail business with a nationwide store network and a growing e-commerce channel. This is a high-impact role for a leader who can operate effectively at multiple levels: hands-on with people and execution in the field, while also being highly analytical, margin-focused, and capable of driving structured optimization initiatives that deliver measurable P&L improvement.

The position reports directly to the CEO and is part of the Leadership Team (without formal Management Board status).

Key responsibilities
  • End-to-end operational leadership of a nationwide retail store network (strong field presence and hands-on execution).
  • Full accountability for sales performance and overall network profitability.
  • Managing a dispersed operating structure across several regions; leading a team of <10 direct reports.
  • Translating strategy into store-level execution and building a culture of operational excellence and ownership for results.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and improving core operational and commercial KPIs (e.g., LFL sales, store/region-level EBITDA, labour costs, conversion, basket size, availability, profitability, HR metrics).
  • Driving improvements in stock-related KPIs, including inventory accuracy and loss prevention (shrink/inventory losses).
  • Identifying underperforming locations and recommending turnaround actions (including relocation or closure decisions, based on data).
  • Supporting expansion initiatives: assessing location potential, partnering on new store openings, rolling out operating standards, and developing an agency-based network model.
  • Leading operational and cost optimization projects (store OPEX, external services, facility/maintenance costs, processes and routines).
  • Close cooperation with Commercial, HR, Finance, Marketing, Logistics and Visual Merchandising.
  • Providing regular performance reporting and data-driven recommendations to the CEO/Leadership Team.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years in a comparable role (Operations Director / Head of Operations or similar) in a multi-site retail organization.
  • Proven experience managing dispersed field structures; team leadership of <10 direct reports.

  • Mature leadership skills: building standards, driving accountability, developing managers, and executing through others.
  • Hands-on mindset and willingness to travel frequently to stores.
  • Strong advantage: proven, measurable results in improving network profitability and/or leading restructuring / turnaround / transformation initiatives.
  • Fluent English & Polish
Offer
  • Direct reporting line to the CEO and real influence as part of the Leadership Team (non-board role).
  • A transformation-oriented position with tangible impact across performance, cost base, and operating model.
  • Employment: employment contract (UoP) or B2B.
  • Competitive base salary + annual bonus.
