Job summary

Eleks is seeking an experienced UX/UI designer to shape and evolve user experiences across complex public-facing and internal web applications for a major German university hospital.

You will work in agile, interdisciplinary teams, conduct user research, craft wireframes and detailed specs, build an accessible, responsive design system, and ensure quality through design reviews and collaboration in Magdeburg.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional UX/UI design experience.
• Strong expertise in design systems and complex digital platforms.
• C1 German and fluent English.
• Experience in agile, interdisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to attend ~10 on-site meetings in Magdeburg.
• Healthcare/public sector/education CMS experience a plus.
• Strong user research, information architecture, interaction design, and usability.
• Create user journeys, wireframes, user flows, clickable prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
• Excellent knowledge of Figma and FigJam.
• Experience with Miro or similar tools.
• Responsive and mobile-first design expertise.
• Design reviews and implementation quality assurance.
• Available during CET/CEST core hours.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize user journeys for internal and external target groups.
• Develop and continuously improve information architecture, navigation, and user guidance.
• Plan and conduct user research, interviews, stakeholder workshops, and usability tests.
• Create wireframes, clickable prototypes, user flows, and detailed design specifications.
• Derive functional and technical design requirements from the style guide and approved Figma mock-ups.
• Define and maintain design tokens, breakpoints, grid systems, and layout rules.
• Build and evolve a version-controlled design system.
• Design reusable templates, page types, modules, and components.
• Develop responsive and mobile-first designs.
• Define all relevant component and interaction states.
• Ensure consistent visual experience across website and intranet.
• Ensure multilingual content considerations.
• Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA, BITV 2.0, EN 301 549 compliance.
• Design accessible navigation, forms, and components.
• Collaborate with analysts, frontend/backend developers, QA, editors, and PMs.
• Document design decisions and provide specs to development team.
• Participate in required on-site meetings in Magdeburg.

Our customer is a major German university hospital. The role focuses on designing and continuously evolving the user experience across complex public-facing and internal web applications.

REQUIREMENTS

• 6+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design
• Strong expertise in design systems and complex digital platforms
• C1-level German and excellent command of English
• Proven experience working in agile, interdisciplinary teams and projects
• Willingness to attend approximately 10 on-site meetings in Magdeburg throughout the project
• Experience in healthcare, public sector, education, CMS platforms (Drupal, TYPO3, Sitecore, AEM), and the implementation of accessibility standards is a strong advantage
• Strong experience in user research, user-centered design, information architecture, interaction design, and usability
• Proven ability to create user journeys, wireframes, user flows, clickable prototypes, and detailed design specifications
• Excellent practical knowledge of Figma and FigJam
• Practical experience with Miro or comparable collaborative workshop tools
• Strong expertise in responsive and mobile-first design approaches
• Experience conducting design reviews and ensuring implementation quality
• Reliable availability during agreed CET/CEST core business hours

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design reusable templates, page types, modules, and components
• Develop responsive and mobile-first designs
• Define all relevant component and interaction states
• Ensure a consistent visual experience across both the website and intranet
• Consider long labels, varying content volumes, and multilingual content.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, BITV 2.0, and EN 301 549 requirements
• Design accessible navigation, forms, controls, and interactive components
• Conduct design reviews and verify implemented interfaces against approved designs
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, frontend and backend developers, quality assurance, content editors, and project management
• Document design decisions and provide implementation-ready specifications to the development team
• Participate in required on-site meetings in Magdeburg
