Job summary

ALTEN Polska is seeking a Senior FEM engineer to drive advanced mechanical simulations for automotive projects. You will perform Abaqus-based analyses, evaluate performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams across development and validation stages.

The role requires strong experience with implicit and explicit nonlinear simulations, plus solid English communication. The position is based in Kraków with hybrid work options and opportunities for European project exposure.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Automotive industry.
• Hands-on experience with FEM simulations using Abaqus.
• Experience in implicit and explicit nonlinear simulations.
• Experience in Stress-Strain, Natural Frequency, Random Vibration, and Thermal Expansion analyses.
• Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical FEM simulations using Abaqus.
• Conduct nonlinear implicit and explicit analyses for automotive products and components.
• Evaluate product performance through Stress-Strain, Natural Frequency, Random Vibration, Shock/Impact, and Thermal Expansion simulations.
• Work with existing simulation models and ensure knowledge transfer between engineering teams.
• Support virtual product validation activities during development.
• Develop, calibrate, and validate material models for polymers and elastomers.
• Analyze results and provide engineering recommendations for optimization.
• Collaborate with design, product development and validation teams.

WHAT YOUR CHALLENGES WILL BE?

• Perform advanced mechanical FEM simulations using Abaqus.
• Conduct nonlinear implicit and explicit analyses for automotive products and components.
• Evaluate product performance through Stress-Strain, Natural Frequency, Random Vibration, Shock/Impact, and Thermal Expansion simulations.
• Work with existing simulation models, ensuring continuity and knowledge transfer between engineering teams.
• Support virtual product validation activities during the development cycle.
• Develop, calibrate, and validate material models for polymers and elastomers.
• Analyze simulation results and provide engineering recommendations for product optimization.
• Collaborate closely with design, product development, and validation teams.

WHAT DO WE REQUIRE?

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the Automotive industry, preferably in automotive electronics hardware design.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with FEM simulations using Abaqus software.
• Strong practical experience in conducting implicit and explicit nonlinear simulations.
• Proven experience in the following simulation types: Stress-Strain Analysis / Natural Frequency Analysis / Random Vibration Analysis / Shock/Impact Analysis / Thermal Expansion Analysis.
• Practical knowledge of material calibration for simulation purposes: Elastic-plastic material models for polymers / Hyper-elastic material models for elastomers.
• Experience working with and modifying simulation models created by other engineers.
• Experience in virtual product validation and design verification.
• Good understanding of plastic materials and their behavior in mechanical simulations.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Strong team-oriented mindset and communication skills.
