Job summary

Arup in Germany or Poland is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to shape advanced data centre projects. You will provide technical leadership across cooling, HVAC, public health, fire protection, diesel, and energy systems for medium to large mission-critical programs from concept through construction supervision.

The role emphasizes mentoring, pursuing sustainable design, coordinating with clients and authorities, and applying BIM/CFD workflows.

Qualifications

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering with leadership in mission-critical mechanical systems.
Strong expertise in precision cooling and data-centre design from due diligence to handover.
Knowledge of German HOAI and international best practices for hyperscale delivery.
Experience with Revit MEP, CFD, hydraulic studies and other design tools.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management; fluent English; German or Polish preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for mechanical systems on medium to large mission-critical projects.
Lead client engagement translating business objectives into sustainable, cost-effective designs.
Oversee design quality and delivery, reviewing and approving design deliverables.
Coordinate with authorities and multidisciplinary teams, promoting best practice.
Mentor engineers and develop standards, digital workflows for data centre design.
