Job summary

ARUP POLSKA sp. z o.o. in Warsaw seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical (HVAC) design across projects from brief through detailed design to installation and commissioning.

You will mentor engineers, coordinate with architects, clients, and contractors while ensuring compliance with Polish and EU standards, and contribute to Arup’s global expertise in multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Services Engineering.
• Licensed Mechanical Engineer in Poland for design or working towards chartership.
• Knowledge of Poland/EU standards and regulations.
• Experience leading mechanical design teams on Data Centre or Science & Industry projects.
• German language communication is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drive delivery of mechanical design packages across the full project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and authorities to keep delivery moving.
• Design HVAC systems in a BIM environment.
• Proficient use of HVAC design software.
• Lead and coach a team of engineers, coordinating and reviewing work to high standards.
• Maintain high technical and quality standards across designs.
• Review contractors’ submissions and schedules to ensure compliance.
• Communicate progress, risks and next steps to project management.
• Mentor junior engineers to grow capability and confidence.
• Contribute to Arup’s Mechanical Skills Network and to proposals and conversations.

Your responsibilities

• Drive the delivery of mechanical design packages across the full project lifecycle.
• Partner proactively with stakeholders—architects, discipline experts, clients, contractors, authorities, and public service providers to keep delivery moving.
• Design HVAC systems in a BIM environment.
• Proficient use of design-support software for HVAC systems
• Lead, challenge, and coach a team of engineers—coordinating and reviewing work to a high standard.
• Set and uphold high technical and quality standards across all designs and deliverables.
• Review contractors’ design submissions, procedures, and schedules—and ensure they meet requirements.
• Communicate progress, risks, and next steps clearly to project management.
• Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers—helping them grow their capability and confidence.
• Champion best practice by actively contributing to Arup’s Mechanical Skills Network.
• Help us win new work by bringing ideas, insights, and technical leadership to proposals and conversations.

Our requirements

We're looking for someone passionate about sustainable building design and technically excellent engineering solutions. These are the essential skills and qualifications for the position:

Degree in Mechanical Services Engineering.

Licensed Mechanical Engineer in Poland for design or currently working towards chartership.

We also value:

Deep knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations in Poland, and/or in EU (Germany, Netherlands).

Experience leading the mechanical design teams, ideally on Data Canters and Science & Industry projects.

Confident communication in German, at all levels.
