Citigroup Inc. is seeking a Lead Java Engineer to design, build, and own scalable backend services in a risk analytics platform.

You will drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and deliver high-throughput, low-latency systems using Java, Spring, and modern data stores. You will work with Kafka, Redis, SQL Server, OpenShift, and CI/CD practices to ship reliable solutions in a hybrid Poland-based environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend experience in enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of modern Java (21+) and Spring ecosystem.
• Strong SQL skills with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and mentorship in engineering teams.
• DevOps mindset with CI/CD and containerization expertise (Jenkins, OpenShift) and Git.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and own end-to-end software solutions using Java/Spring.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and guide architectural decisions.
• Drive high-throughput, low-latency performance optimizations.
• Work with Kafka and Pinot-based real-time analytics pipelines.
• Champion DevOps and CI/CD across the team and OpenShift deployment.
• Collaborate across teams to integrate data sources and downstream consumers.
• Own the full application lifecycle and production support.
