Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Java Backend Developer to design and implement scalable, real-time data platforms. You will drive distributed systems, microservices, and data streaming solutions using Java and Spring Boot in a client-focused, enterprise environment.

The role requires collaboration across global teams, adherence to SDLC, and leveraging AI-assisted tooling to boost efficiency. The candidate must communicate effectively in English and be comfortable working partially on client site.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Java and Spring Boot development experience.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and real-time data processing.
• Experience with microservices and data streaming architectures.
• Proficiency with cloud-native architectures and security best practices.
• Familiarity with Kafka, CosmosDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and related technologies.
• Knowledge of REST, Azure, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Build tools experience with Maven and Gradle.
• Proven ability to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect scalable enterprise platforms leveraging distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Build and maintain real-time streaming and time-series data platforms with high performance and throughput.
• Develop microservices and data streaming solutions using modern Java frameworks.

• Adapt architectural approaches to complex business and regulatory domains.
