Job summary

SoftServe seeks a Lead Full-stack Engineer to design, develop, and maintain information systems for a European public sector client. The work focuses on back-end with Java, Spring, JPA, and SQL, and front-end with JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Master's level degree or equivalent senior IT education.
• 10+ years of Java experience.
• 8+ years of SQL experience.
• 8+ years of JPA experience.
• 7+ years of Spring experience.
• 4+ years of JavaScript and REST-based Web Services experience.
• 6+ months of agricultural sector information systems experience.
• Very good English (CEFR B2 or higher).

About The Role

As a Lead Full-stack Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain information systems in the agricultural sector for our Client, a European public sector organisation. The work is weighted towards the back end — Java and Spring services with JPA persistence over a SQL data layer, exposed through REST-based web services — with JavaScript front-end work on top. You will take technical ownership of what you deliver, from data model and API design through to release and long-term maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features, covering Java and Spring back-end services and the JavaScript front ends that consume them
• Take technical ownership of the solutions you deliver, including their performance, security, maintainability, and data integrity across the application and persistence layers
• Work with business analysts, fellow engineers, and stakeholders in the agricultural domain to turn requirements into working software, and support colleagues through code review and knowledge sharing
• Implement business logic and data access using Spring and JPA, and design and optimise the SQL data model and queries beneath them
• Design, build, and maintain REST-based web services that expose business functionality to front-end applications and integrating systems
• Analyse, maintain, and evolve existing information systems, understanding current behaviour before changing it and preserving compatibility where required
• Contribute to architecture and technical decisions, and uphold the team's coding conventions and quality standards
• Ensure code quality through testing and code review, and produce and maintain technical documentation for the components you deliver

Requirements

• A university degree at master's level (or 5 years of higher education) with a minimum of 15 years of IT professional experience; or a degree at bachelor's level (or 3 years of higher education) with a minimum of 17 years; or a secondary degree giving access to higher education with a minimum of 22 years
• At least 10 years of experience with Java
• At least 8 years of experience with SQL
• At least 8 years of experience with JPA
• At least 7 years of experience with Spring
• At least 4 years of experience with JavaScript and at least 4 years with REST-based Web Services
• At least 6 months of experience in the analysis, development, and maintenance of information systems in the agricultural sector
• Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2 or higher (CEFR)
