Job summary

SoftServe is seeking a Lead Full-stack Engineer to own end-to-end delivery for a European public sector client. You will shape front-end and back-end features, design APIs, and ensure scalable, secure, and well-documented solutions across UI, APIs, and database layers.

You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, implement CI/CD pipelines, and deploy on cloud platforms, driving quality, performance, and compliance while mentoring others.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field with substantial professional experience.
• 10+ years of software development, including Java.
• 4+ years with Angular (7+), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern front-end tools.
• Extensive Java backend experience: Spring, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Security, Hibernate; REST APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger.

Responsibilities

• Develop front-end architecture and full-stack features across the stack from UI to server logic and databases.
• Ensure performance, cross-browser compatibility, responsiveness, and security best practices.
• Bridge gaps between front-end and back-end teams to ensure cohesive integration.
• Create scalable software, reusable code, and maintainable development practices.
• Produce design docs, REST APIs, data models, and Liquibase scripts; document APIs.

About The Role

As a Lead Full-stack Engineer, you will develop and maintain features across the entire stack for our Client, a European public sector organisation, from user interfaces and consumed APIs through to server-side business logic and database interactions. You will take technical ownership of the solutions you deliver — their scalability, performance, security, and documentation — and act as the connection point between front-end and back-end work so that all system components integrate cohesively.

About The Role

As a Lead Full-stack Engineer, you will develop and maintain features across the entire stack for our Client, a European public sector organisation, from user interfaces and consumed APIs through to server-side business logic and database interactions. You will take technical ownership of the solutions you deliver — their scalability, performance, security, and documentation — and act as the connection point between front-end and back-end work so that all system components integrate cohesively.

Responsibilities

• Develop front-end website architecture, user interactions, and front-end and back-end web applications, maintaining features across the entire stack from designing user interfaces and consuming APIs to implementing server-side business logic and database interactions
• Ensure web applications are optimised for performance and functionality across different browsers and devices, design responsive applications, and apply data and security best practices — input validation, authentication and authorisation, secure storage, and compliant logging and monitoring
• Bridge the gap between front-end and back-end developers, facilitating communication and ensuring cohesive integration of all system components
• Participate in the design and creation of scalable software, develop features that enhance the user experience, build reusable code for future use, and write clean, functional code while maintaining code integrity and organisation
• Produce technical design documents, REST APIs and integration services, data models and Liquibase database scripts, and API and technical documentation
• Perform unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, debug, fix and validate code changes, and prepare defect analysis and remediation reports
• Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms using CI/CD pipelines and containerisation technologies, maintaining CI/CD configurations, deployment scripts, and release packages
• Compile and analyse data, processes and code to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement, deliver solutions that fulfil functional and non-functional requirements and align with user expectations, and provide technical status reports and knowledge transfer materials

Requirements

• Master's degree with 15 years of professional experience, bachelor's degree with 17 years, or secondary education with 22 years
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, including minimum 10 years developing Java applications
• Minimum 4 years of experience with Angular (at least version 7+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS, together with front-end frameworks and libraries (Angular, Bootstrap, eUI) and modern build tools
• Proficiency in Java back-end stacks — Spring 5.x, Spring Boot 2.x, Spring Data 2.x, Spring Security 5.x, Hibernate 5.x, and Groovy with Grails (2.5.3) — and experience designing, building, and securing RESTful APIs and web services, including OpenAPI/Swagger documentation
• Proficiency with relational (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and non-relational (MongoDB) databases, including schema design and query optimisation
• Experience with Git workflows (GitFlow, trunk-based) and an understanding of legacy systems using SVN; cloud services (AWS, Azure) including deploying and managing applications; containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes); authentication and authorisation standards (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT); and working in Agile environments
• One recognised certification such as AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, or an equivalent certification. Knowledge of REST API design standards, OpenAPI/Swagger, OWASP Top 10, secure SDLC practices, Agile/Scrum, DevOps methodologies, ITIL, and of EU institutional environments and public administration processes is considered an asset
• Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, corresponding to Level B2 or higher (CEFR)
• Capacity to ramp up quickly on new projects, collaborate within teams and take part in multi-lingual meetings with ease, apply security and cloud best practices, integrate front-end and back-end builds into CI/CD pipelines, and work both autonomously and as part of a team with a results-oriented mindset
