Job Description
Euroclear UK and International (EUI) is embarking on an exciting multi-year business transformation programme, with technology change at its heart. Group Business Solutions (GBS) delivers technology services to EUI and is currently developing a modern Java microservice-based platform to replace the legacy system. The new platform will use Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes and the OpenShift container platform, and is designed to be cloud‑ready for future migration.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the creation of a new team and provide technical leadership.
- Lead delivery of coherent end‑to‑end IT solutions that meet functional and non‑functional requirements.
- Work within an Agile team to migrate the legacy application to an event‑based, service‑oriented architecture, collaborating with the Solution Architect, Engineering Lead and other stakeholders.
- Ensure IT solutions comply with enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
- Organise walkthroughs with delivery teams to maintain end‑to‑end consistency across platforms.
- Uphold guidelines and standards for design and development.
- Perform hands‑on development and provide technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to team members.
- Potential for line management responsibilities.
Qualifications
Crucial Candidate Traits
The successful candidate will have previously performed a technical lead role and possess strong demonstrable solutions design and development skills.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in Core Java development and common frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Experience of line management.
- Developer of Java micro‑services.
- Experience with event‑driven architecture and messaging technologies (Kafka, MQ).
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in Object‑Oriented design.
- Experience developing and deploying on Unix or Linux.
- Ability to profile and tune performance.
- Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber).
- Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL).
