Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead C++ Engineer with Observability to guide the observability implementation across the software lifecycle. The role blends hands-on engineering with technical leadership to ensure measurable customer experience and system reliability in high‑performing distributed systems.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in observability, strong C++ skills, and hands‑on experience with metrics, tracing, logging, and telemetry pipelines, plus OpenTelemetry, eBPF, and GitOps

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in observability engineering, including metrics, tracing and logging.
• Expertise in profiling and telemetry pipelines.
• Understanding of customer‑experience measurement for latency‑sensitive market data systems.
• Background in building and operating large‑scale monitoring, observability or control platforms.
• Proficiency in C++ engineering and the ability to engage effectively with development teams.
• Skills in OpenTelemetry, eBPF and GitOps.
• Competency in API‑driven automation and CI/CD‑integrated observability practices.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native, Kubernetes and distributed systems architectures.
• Proven ability to influence engineering teams and establish standards.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Lead observability implementation across the software development lifecycle.
• Ensure customer experience, system reliability and operational insight are measurable and embedded.
• Build and operate large‑scale monitoring, observability or control platforms.
• Establishment of standards and drive adoption of observability best practices.
• Engagement with development teams effectively to deliver telemetry and operational tooling.
• Implementation of metrics, tracing, logging, profiling and telemetry pipelines.
• Drive customer‑experience measurement for latency‑sensitive market data systems.
• Influence engineering teams to align on observability outcomes.
