Job summary

Speechify is hiring a hands-on Team Lead for the Android product who will own major features end-to-end and mentor engineers. You’ll write code, review PRs, and guide how the team ships stable releases while maintaining reliability. This is a remote role with a flat organization that rewards technical excellence and clear communication.

You’ll collaborate with design and product, balance shipping speed with quality, and help raise the team’s impact by codifying best practices and robust testing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software engineering with team leadership or ownership of major features.
• Strong Kotlin & Android platform knowledge with hands-on delivery.
• Experience shipping long-running background work or audio apps is a plus.
• Proven ability to introduce lasting improvements with measurable impact.
• Comfort with influencing peers to adopt changes and best practices.
• Ability to discuss system behavior and AI-assisted workflows clearly.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end-to-end, partner with design for delivery to release.
• Maintain reliability metrics for key features and monitor health.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when blockers appear and steer version choices.
• Keep shared components clean, tested, and easy to pick up.
• Lead discussions with Product, Design, and Engineering early.
• Deliver nightly builds for QA and support rapid iteration.
