Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Team Lead to own core Android product work in a fully remote, distributed environment. This is a hands-on role: you’ll write code, review PRs, and own features from idea to release while keeping the team aligned with design and product goals.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive reliability metrics, reduce manual steps for releases, and help the team adopt scalable processes. A track record of shipping usable software and strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with team leadership or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Expert in Kotlin and Android architecture (MVVM, Clean Architecture).
• Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work.
• Strong testing mindset and approach, including what tests cannot cover.
• Led initiatives that stuck after you moved on, with cost awareness.
• Comfort with driving changes that require team buy-in and handling friction.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design through release.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team when blockers arise and ensure progress.
• Consolidate shared code to avoid multiple versions of the same thing.
